"As you probably know, I played my last gig
at the end of may.
"but" About two months
before the last gig, Dave, Mick & Baptist ganged up on me, forced alcohol on
me, and made me promise (while I was drunk ) to do one more gig later in the
year.
They have now reminded me of that promise, and have informed me that I will have
to do the gig, as the promoter has already purchased the back stage drinks
costing him mega money. The venue is really nice lakeside location where Dave
& Christina got married last year, in fact we will be celebrating their
first anniversary then. (another excuse for a drink)"

Dalton on his web-site
And his highlight of the last 49 years?
"My grandson Declan, I absolutely love him to bits - he's
greatest thing that's happened to me."

coming from WhyKinks too)

2 years after being inducted into The Rock ‘n’Roll Hall of Fame and 43 years after their first number one single, “You Really Got Me”, The Eel Pie Club is delighted to welcome back THE Kast-Off KINKS. This legendary, world-class band features 3 actual members of THE KINKS, including original member, drummer, Mick Avory who joined the KINKS (at that time still called the Ravens) in January 1964. Mick is still regarded to this day as the backbone of the original KINKS. Other KINKS members are John Dalton and John Gosling. The fourth member of the band is Dave Clarke (ex Noel Redding Band).

"The Swinging Sixties Ball was held on Friday 21st September
and guests enjoyed entertainment provided by the Kast off Kinks, Geno
Washington and the Normal Hawaiins in the stunning surroundings of the
Guildhall. The night was such a success that we already have tables
pledged for next year’s event! In excess of £80,000 has been raised
to support African Revival’s Schools Linking Programme and two other
charities - Peaceful Place and Orphaids. African Revival would like to
say a big thank you to the guests for their generosity and the
volunteers on the night for all their hard work. >> Photos of the event will be posted

Having gone from British Invasion hitmakers to late Sixties cult heroes to bonafide arena-filling rock stars in the Seventies and Eighties, the Kinks are, it would seem, cult heroes again for the time being - a position that their bright and sometimes discomfited leader no doubt savors. On the eve of their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, Ray Davies had this to say: "The Kinks have always been outsiders. I'm an outsider. To be accepted is unique for us. I'm pleased for the people who believed in me all along. It's nice for them to know that their faith wasn't misplaced." To quote a slogan popular with those who love the band, "God Save the Kinks." from
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
